In the west we might be used to celebrating Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, but Children’s Day?
Children’s Day is public holiday in Korea and has been since 1975. It occurs every year on the 5th of May, having been moved from the 1st to avoid clashing with Labor Day.
Children’s Day is pretty much what it says on the tin and parents will often buy presents for their children or take them out on kid-friendly day trips, such as shopping or theme parks.
Children’s Day has a serious side too and is used to promote children’s welfare, education and well being.
