My Top Ten (eight): ‘Banned by KBS’

KBS has managed to earn itself quite the reputation for banning things. While the stats might not show it as actually being any worse than it’s competitors, the strange reasons they use to ban songs has earned them internet infamy.

To get on this list, all you had to do was be ‘banned by KBS’ in some way. The ban had to relate to the song picked for the list (no generic artist bans) but did not have to fully ban the song E.G. Requirements to change live choreography.

8. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – Lee Hyori

I initially thought KBS might have had a point, until I realised they banned it for scenes where Hyori and her dancers break road traffic regulations….

7.Uh-ee – Crayon Pop

I’m not a Crayon Pop fan, but the ban makes me smile. It’s ok to fill your songs with English, but better not let any Japanese words slip through!

6. Galaxy – AKMU

I’m pretty sure AKMU wouldn’t have minded, except the definition of Galaxy they were using kind of came first…..

5. Gentleman – Psy

Not very Gentlemanly behaviour damaging property ehy Psy. KBS are not amused.

4. Catallena – Orange Caramel

Orange Caramel make light of human life, in a typically dark Orange Caramel offering…Yeh KBS….

3. Beep – Park Ji Yoon

“Park Ji Yoon??? No way!” I hear you cry.Yup, and her crime? Those credits…too long.

2. Miniskirt – AOA

The song wasn’t banned, it just required changed choreography. Namely the part where they zip their skirts closed!!

1. Tae Jin Ah –  La Song

This one might take the KBS biscuit. The original La Song was not banned, this cover was. It was banned due to the words ‘Maserati’ and ‘Ferrari’. In the original Rain pronounced these Masserella and Ferella, submitted that as the lyrics. The cover submitted the real words as the lyrics, hence the ban.

What would your top ten be?
